July Newsletter

Update from Chairman – David Durbin Another win moves us up the table and out of the danger zone. If we can put together a full eighty minutes like our recent comeback performances we would certainly be nearer the top of the league than were we are currently. Still there is plenty of time for that and with more of our injured players getting closer to recovery anything is possible. So let us continue to give our full support to Liam and the team as a very vocal eighteenth man can make all the difference! A reminder now that your Trust AGM is on the 9th July at the Ivy House starting at 7pm and all members are very welcome. I would also like to thank everyone who has made very generous donations of preloved merchandise as this helps our fundraising efforts for the Squadbuilder. We do however still need more so please consider us when having that clear out that you promised yourself you would do. Talking of fundraising an important date for your diary is the 10th August for a dinner with Martin Pearson and friends at the Shay starting at 7pm. It’s £30 a ticket, two course dinner which will certainly be one not to miss. We hope to see you there!

June Newsletter

Update from Chairman – David Durbin One swallow does not make a summer but a win is a win! The Doncaster game shows what can be done after an excellent all round performance by the team and certainly something to build on. The Leeds lads who came in due to our appalling injury situation did us proud so let’s hope we can keep them for a while! The loss to Toulouse however shows how much more needs to be done despite a gallant second half performance. Defence Defence Defence !! After our donation of kit to the Panthers LDRL team I’m also pleased to announce that your Trust has sponsored two Panthers wheelchair team players for their season, these being Rob Hawkins and Tom Martin. If you have never been to see them play I would suggest you get to the Sedbergh Leisure Centre (BD12 0HQ) on Sunday 16th June at 2:30pm. You will be in for a treat! I would like now to put an appeal for any pre-loved merchandise that you wish to donate to us as we are extremely low on stock as we continue to raise for the Squadbuilder fund. We also are holding a raffle this season with some great prizes including these include two nights at the magnificent Bowers Mill Aparthotel in a luxury suite, a match day experience at the club, afternoon tea at Harvey’s, and many more wonderful prizes. Tickets are available at all our home games costing only £1 each or a book for £5. If you feel able to sell some for us that would be greatly appreciated

Panthers Wheelchair team update from player Tom Martin We're gearing up for our first match against the Leeds Rhinos on June 16th, 2024. Our athletes have been training hard in the pre-season, focusing on both skills and teamwork. Coach Wayne Boardman has been guiding the team through strategic plays and rigorous conditioning to prepare for this challenge. This match is a chance to test ourselves and develop our skills through valuable experience. The players have been pushing their limits, and we believe this hard work will pay off. We look forward putting our efforts to the test against the Rhinos.
